3.Lagoon tour

Lagoon tour around the island by boat is a must do item .
The one I choose is a one day tour , it includes snorkeling  and it includes the lunch on a motu too.

4.Scuba diving

It is a good experience to dive in Bora bora .
We joined the couple diving with vedio at Eleuthera Boa Diving Center ,when we arrived the center , we filled a form and then tried the diving suit and shoes  , the instructor kept saying my diving shoes is cute actually I think those in the diving center is much better than the one i was wearing .

 the diving instructor led us to Coral garden , they do not have the female size oxygen tank so it is quite heavy for me and it is the first time i tried to jump to the water form the boat :O. The previous diving instructor was much caring in Maldives and they got the female smaller size oxygen tank.

We did not see as much as fishes in the Coral garden and no shark and stingray in the coral garden , i guess it is easier for the instructor to lead us. there were one diving instructor leading me and my husband and another man took video for us .the depth is around 6 meters to 7 meters.  I feel little ear pain when i dived deeper and it is not easy to balance as the oxygen tank is quite heavy , most of the time we are climbing on the sand.
Surprisingly , we found a pearl in the bottom of the sea .

5.Submarine Activities

It is a great activities if you are going to travel in Bora bora with family and younger kids cannot swim or older parents cannot swim or snorkel .  The trip is around 35 to 45 minutes and you can get a nice boat ride to the submarine and get some nice views underwater .

6.Aqua Bike

Aqua bike are children's favorite activity .
It looks so funny in the sea.

7.Fishing.

There are lot of variety of fishes in Bora Bora , you can try the deep sea fishing there .

8. Island  Safari

Safari tour around the whole bora bora is quite worthy , as when you travel a place , you would like to know the history and the facilities there, the tour show you around the school , church , hospital where the water supply to the hotel ? how does citizen get the water ?
There are only one hospital in the island , if you need to do surgery , you will have to take plane to Tahiti hospital .
Circle island tour to discover the vestiges of the American military base (bunkers, artillery), marae & archeological sites.  The viewpoint in Povai bay from Mount Otemanu, an ancient volcano.

 The viewpoint from the Mount Otemanu is spectacular , it is definitely the most stunning view i have ever seen , we both fell in love with this beautiful lagoon .

On the safari tour , there are also another  African couple join it.

This is the Bora bora college.
This two stone looks like sirens / mermaids .

9.Helmet Dive

If you cannot swim and do not like diving , Helmet dive is another good choice , you do not need to worry about how to breathe under the water, you can breathe normally under water.
The helmet is quite heavy from my past experience and my shoulder feels painful after the helmet dive.

10. Paddle

You can use the paddle in your hotel and look how clear is the sea and the animal under the water, if there are waves , be careful!

11.Canoe / Kayak

Thurs was born Pere, the fire goddess , who left Bora Bora for her new abode , the Hawaiian volcano of Kilauea.

History
Bora bora is island group of French Polynesia  and  Kingdom of Bora Bora is an independent state until 1888  , In World War II the United States chose Bora Bora as a South Pacific military supply base, and an oil depot, airstrip, seaplane base, and defensive fortifications were constructed. Known as "Operation Bobcat", it maintained a supply force of nine ships, 20,000 tons of equipment and nearly 7,000 men.

Geography

It is a 30.55 km2 island grup in the Lee ward group in the western part of the Society Islands of French Polynesia.
The main island is located in 230 kilometers northwest of Papeete , it is surrounded by a lagoon and a barrier reef. There is an extinct volcano rising to two peaks, mount Pahia and Mount Otemanu , the highest point is 727 meters.

How to get to Bora Bora?
There are two way to get to Tahiti from Hong kong, the first way is to transit plane in New Zealand , you can take New Zealand airline and stop over New Zealand , another way is to transit plane in Japan .
And there is a direct flight to Tahiti from USA by United Airline .

We departed from Hong Kong  and  below is the route we planned, it took 5 flights for us to arrive the middle of nowhere-BoraBora.

HK --> Phuket
Phuket --> Bangkok
Bangkok--> Sydney
Sydney--> Auckland
Auckland--> PPT (Papeete)
PPT(Papeete) --> BOB (BoraBora)

When we arrived in Papeete airport  , it was midnight and there are no air-conditioner , you may need to adapt to the hot weather there :P
There are local people dancing at the airport to welcome us.

Most of the people booked the hotel in Papeete is for one night before taking flight to BoraBora ,
There is one thing to bare in mind , when you book the hotel , please also calculate the time difference . we saw some tourists cannot stay in the hotel due to this reason , they booked a wrong date so they have to immediately find a very expensive hotel at that night.

There is a friendly dog welcome us in the Airport hotel , do not have  much expectation in this hotel  , Actually who cares? you stay there one night only .
The hotel room is clean and have air conditioner .
It offers bread and coffee for breakfast .

And then we took taxi to airport and wait for the plane to take us to Bora Bora , our dream travel destination.

Among all airlines I took during this honeymoon , the most friendly cabin crew must be Tahiti airline.
During this one hour flight , they serve us soft drink .
and when the plane land off , the pilot plays the Bora bora songs.
The view from the plane is so beautiful .

The weather is so good and it is like a painting .
 We need to take the ship to the hotel , we are
fascinated by the clear blue sea in the airport , even we have been to Maldives  , here is much more clear and beautiful than Maldives .
 This is the view from the ship.
There are different blue color in the sea .

When we landed off , we took taxi to our hotel - InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort‎.
Before i go to this trip , i watched a youtube vedio , there's a Hong Kong artist Ella and she came from Tahiti , she introduced Tahiti in a travel show , it mentions people will make the flower crown to wellcome the guest. I wanted to buy one from the shop on the street but they rejected to sell it at that moment , it is interesting!

The staff is friendly and nice , they serves us a cold drink and They arranged a Taiwanese girl to serve us and we became friend :) It is so lucky for us to meet her there.
She introduced us some restaurants near the hotel and tell us how to get to there.

 It is the place to have buffet breakfast every morning.

The staff leaded us to our room , it is a bungalow and in the table , you can see the sea world and the different kind of lagoon fish , I even saw the stingray at night and shark in the morning  . If you open the table , you can feel the wind from the ocean and also feed the fishes  :D, It is our night activity.

View from the room . we brought few floating bed and all are parked under the water house .

There are some facilities in the hotel like gym and snooker.

The hotel organized activities every day ,
we joined it and wore the folk costume .
There are also flower crown lesson taught by the local .

There is something you should know about Bora Bora.

1.The religion is Christianity.
2.People like wearing flower in the ear . If you are single ,please wear the flower on the ear right side,if you are married ,wear the flower on the left side. Don't wear it in the wrong side.
3.Put on sun oil in the day time or you will get burn under the sun.
I had scalp off after snorkeling for 5 days,better wear swimming hot to protect your scalp if possible.
4. No license is needed if local people need to fish.
